The Rundlet-May House was built in 1794 by successful commission merchant James Rundlet, as an imposing comment on his importance within the city. Today, visitors to the house will marvel at collections of 19th-century Portsmouth furniture and technology, including a Rumford roaster and range and an elaborate vending system. The house is located in the eastern part of the downtown area, within walking distance of the South Cemetery.
